What are the Negative Effects of Wearing Wrong Glasses

Wearing the wrong glasses isn’t going to necessarily damage your eyes but it can cause a whole lot of discomfort. Yes, wearing brand new glasses for the first time can make you feel a bit nauseous but you will quickly adjust to them. If, however, you are still feeling dizzy and uncomfortable after two weeks or so, then you would have to make an appointment with your local optometrist to fix up all those negative effects of wearing the wrong glasses.

You’re constantly frowning

Whether you’re working on your computer or watching TV, you find that you’re squinting and frowning a lot. You know that frown lines are essentially caused by aging but you’re still young and you have permanent frown lines from wearing the wrong glasses. You’re constantly squinting to try and see better and yet this certainly shouldn’t be happening when you’re wearing glasses.

Poor vision and eye fatigue can take a toll on your eyes and it simply means getting a better pair of glasses, not in a month’s time, but immediately. Next day delivery prescription glasses can bring you instant relief after battling with eye strain from having glasses that no longer meet your needs. A new pair of prescription eyeglasses can certainly alleviate your symptoms.

Dizziness

Glasses that are the wrong fit for you can cause dizziness or vertigo. You can feel totally off balance, whether you’re sitting or standing and you can actually feel quite nauseous. Certainly, if you don’t wear glasses and you are feeling dizzy, you should make an appointment with your eye doctor just to see if you need glasses.

If you already have glasses, it’s possible they don’t fit properly. You could even have dizziness from glasses with the wrong PD or Pupillary Distance. This is the distance between your pupils and too short or too long can cause you to experience dizziness. Your optometrist will need to make sure your glasses have the correct PD.

Headaches

Your eyes have muscles in them and as they adapt to viewing the world through your new prescription glasses, the muscles have to work harder than they have ever done before. You could land up with muscle strain and this can give you a headache. Also, new prescription glasses will mean new frames and if they fit too tightly around your ears and across your nose, you can easily get a headache.

It is important to have your glasses fitted to your face shape by a professional optometrist. If your glasses leave a reddened pinch mark on your nose, you don’t have to accept it as they can be readjusted to fit your face more comfortably.

Blurry images

Blurred images are one of the most typical symptoms of the wrong glasses. It can be as bad as not wearing glasses at all and that blurred look can bring on dizziness and nausea. You can’t wear glasses that give you blurred vision if you are wanting to drive or if you need to use some or other machinery at work.

It can be bad enough with single-vision lenses, but blurriness from bifocals or trifocals can be far worse. Sometimes your glasses can cause blurry vision as they weren’t properly adjusted for you. You may even start out with well-adjusted glasses but they may have become loose over time and need to be adjusted again. Just make sure that you’re not getting blurry vision because of smeared, dirty lenses.

Watery eyes and even infection

Prescription glasses that are no longer performing their task of helping you to see better will cause your eyes to strain and water. If you wear makeup, it can even lead to an eye infection. Your eyes may feel dry and gritty just from overuse because of weak glasses that no longer serve you.

If your prescription glasses are no longer working well, your eyes will become strained. Whenever your glasses are no longer working as they should, eyestrain will cause watering from sheer overwork and tiredness, and it’s time to see your optometrist. If you notice worsening vision in your eyes, make an appointment with an eye specialist immediately.

Quality of life is impaired

Who would have thought that wrong fitting glasses or weak glasses could have such a negative effect on your eyes and your health. Essentially every member of the family should have their eyes tested on an annual basis. Most people over the age of 45 will inevitably need reading glasses because of the natural deterioration of the eyes known as Presbyopia.

The wrong glasses can actually impair your quality of life. With the wrong glasses, your eyes simply learn to focus and perform as needed but in the long run, other symptoms can occur, from dizziness to headaches, nausea, stomach aches, and neck pain. Rather order a new pair of glasses where the primary concern of the suppliers is you, their glasses-wearing patient.
